Microwaved Basmati Rice Recipe

1 cup (200g or 7 oz) basmati rice
625ml (2 1/2 cups or 22 fl oz) cold water


Put the basmati rice into a sieve and wash under the cold tap until the water runs clear
Put the basmati rice into a medium microwave-proof dish along with the cold water and leave for 30 minutes (the dish should have at least the same depth above the water line as depth below the water line)
Microwave for 14 minutes on high
Serve hot
