2 tablespoons (30ml) vegetable oil
3 large bell peppers (capsicum), cored and thinly sliced
2 medium onions, peeled and thinly sliced
1 teaspoon (5ml) salt
2 teaspoons (10ml) ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) ground cumin
2 teaspoons (10ml) garam masala powder
1 teaspoon (5ml) chilli powder
750g (1 lb 10 oz) minced (ground) beef

Heat the vegetable oil in a large heavy-bottomed frying pan, or saucepan, over a medium to high heat
Add the bell peppers, stir-fry for 2 minutes, remove the bell peppers and set aside (leave as much vegetable oil behind that you can)
Add the onions to the frying pan (or saucepan) and saute until they are lightly browned (8-15 minutes), turning often
Sprinkle in the salt, ground black pepper, ground cumin, garam masala powder and chilli powder, mix well and saute for 2 minutes, turning often (add a little hot water if the ingredients get too dry)
Reduce the heat to medium, add the minced (ground) beef, mix well and cook for 20 minutes, stirring often (add a little hot water if the ingredients get too dry)
Add the bell peppers that you previously cooked, mix well, cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring often
Serve hot
