Fish Balti Curry Recipe - Serves 4-6

Fish Balti Curry Recipe


680g firm fish fillets, washed and patted dry with kitchen roll and then cut into bite-sized pieces
2 teaspoons (10ml) amchoor (dried mango) powder
1 teaspoon (5ml) ginger paste
1 fresh green chilli, very finely chopped
1 teaspoon (5ml) chilli powder
1 teaspoon (5ml) ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) ground turmeric
1 teaspoon (5ml) salt
3 tablespoons (45ml) cornflour
3 tablespoons (45ml) cooking oil
3 small bell peppers (capsicum), cored and coarsely chopped


Add the fish pieces to a large mixing bowl
Add the amchoor powder, ginger paste, fresh green chilli, chilli powder, ground cumin, ground turmeric, salt and cornflour, mixing each ingredient well before adding the next
Give the fish mixture a final mix to make sure the the fish is well coated with the other ingredients
Heat the cooking oil in a large heavy-bottomed frying pan or saucepan over a low to medium heat
Add the coated fish pieces to the frying pan (or saucepan) and saute for 3 minutes, turning often
Remove the cooked pish pieces with a slotted spoon and set aside
Add the bell peppers (capsicum) and saute for 3 minutes, turning often
Remove the cooked bell peppers (capsicum) and set aside
Put the cooked fish pieces into a serving bowl and garnish with the bell peppers (capsicum)
