Spicy Pork Kebabs Recipe

From 408 to 611 calories each serving (606 to 809 calories if eating with rice)



Ingredients

6 tablespoons (90ml) vinegar
3 tablespoons (45ml) vegetable oil
6 cloves of garlic, peeled and coarsely chopped
2.5cm (1 inch) cube fresh ginger root, peeled and coarsely chopped
3 fresh green chillies, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup (125ml) fresh coriander (cilantro) leaves
12 black peppercorns
4 cloves
1 teaspoon (5ml) cumin seeds
6 dried red chillies
1 teaspoon (5ml) ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon (5ml) ground turmeric
1KG (2 lbs 3 oz) lean pork, cut into 2.5cm (1 inch) cubes


Method

Put the vinegar, vegetable oil, garlic, fresh ginger, green chillies and coriander (cilantro) leaves into a food processor, blend into a smooth paste and set aside
Put the black peppercorns, cloves, cumin seeds and dried red chillies into a spice grinder and grind into a fine powder
Put the paste that you made and the powder that you made into a large bowl and mix well
Add the pork cubes and mix really well, making sure that all of the cubes are covered with the spicy paste
Cover bowl with kitchen film and put into the fridge to marinate for at least 6 hours
Thread the marinated pork onto skewers and cook on a barbecue until the pork is nicely cooked (about 10 minutes), turning often so that the pork is evenly cooked. Alternatively, cook the kebabs under your oven grill (broiler).
Serve hot (on rice or with a salad)
